Description
One of the most compact Hardy Hibiscus varieties, ‘All Eyes On Me’ is a perfect fit for smaller garden spaces and container gardens. It forms a rounded mound, reaching 3.5 feet tall and wide, clothed in rich green foliage that complements the abundance of enormous, 8-inch flowers with blush-pink, overlapping petals that surround a red eye from which a white stamen emerges. In our gardens, the flowers start coming early to midsummer, depending on the weather, and continue into early fall, which makes the hummingbirds, butterflies, and beneficial pollinators happy. Prized for the abundant and massive “dinner plate’ size flowers that stand out beautifully against a background of burgundy flushed foliage, this magnificent cold hardy Hibiscus is sure to have you Head Over Heels in awe. All Eyes On Me is perfect for adding a tropical look and feel to gardens as far north as USDA Zone 4a, where winter low temperatures can reach -30°F, and as far south as central Florida.Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to about 3 to 3.5 feet tall and equally as wide, All Eyes on Me Hardy Hibiscus is ideal for planting and growing in landscape borders, garden beds, and containers. Whether used as a specimen, grouping, or hedge, this beauty is suitable for use as a backdrop for lower-growing plants in flower gardens and is perfect for adding a bold tropical flair to your outdoor living spaces. A fine addition to perennial gardens, tropical gardens, hummingbird gardens, butterfly and pollinator gardens, pink theme gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 3 feet apart for solid hedges;Â 6 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Hardy Hibiscus are very easy to grow. They prefer a moist but well-drained soil and plenty of sunshine, though some shade is tolerated. During prolonged periods of summer drought, plants will appreciate supplemental water to bloom their best. Maintenance is minimal, requiring just one pruning a year to prune plants back when new growth begins to emerge in spring.
