Among other fine attributes, what we love most about the Dorothy Wycoff Pieris is her fragrant flowers, very dark green foliage and form. She is a breathtakingly beautiful evergreen flowering shrub providing year round color, texture and distinguished form in the landscape. In late summer, chains of bead-like, neon red flower buds begin to form in clusters at the ends of stems showing off throughout the winter. Then, in early spring these red buds open to fragrant, lantern-shaped soft-pink flowers which are produced in such abundance they nearly cover the foliage. Following the early spring bloom, colorful copper-red new leaves emerge maturing to a glossy deep green throughout the the rest of the year. All grown up, Dorothy Wycoff naturally forms an upright rounded shrub up to 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide for use in design as specimen or natural hedge in shady woodland settings, home foundations, and other partially shaded areas where it will give you interesting form and adorable, fragrant spring blooms to enjoy!
