Description
Excellent for ornamental use and bright color in the garden, Lime Thyme is a hardy, low growing and mounding variety perfect for adding a splash of brilliant lime green color in the garden in groupings, mass plantings or as a groundcover or low border. Though the leaves have a pleasant citrus scent, they only have a very light citrus flavor so are not generally used for culinary purposes. Summer brings abundant clusters of bright pink flowers the butterflies and beneficial pollinators will appreciate. Though most thymes require full sun, this one performs equally as well in morning sun and afternoon shade as it does with full sun. Also a great plant for mixed container gardens where it serves as a soil cover and fine texture and color contrast to darker plants.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a ground-hugging carpet 5 to 6 inches tall and spreading 15 to 18 inches or more over time, Lime Thyme is ideal for use in garden beds and containers. In garden and landscape beds it works well as a grouping, groundcover or border in sunny to partially shaded situations. Excellent for underplanting small trees and other plants with darker foliage, such as red or purple leaved Japanese maples. It’ an excellent soil cover and spiller plant in pots, planters and other containers. A fine addition to rock gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing:Â 15 inches for mass planting or solid borders

Growing Preferences
When planted right and in the right spot, Lime Thyme is easy to grow. It grows best in lightly moist to dry well-drained soil and full sun to part shade, even thriving with afternoon shade. We suggest at least 3 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. Will tolerate rainy periods but constantly soggy or wet soil is a killer. So make sure to plant in a well-drained site!
