A captivating tetraploid Daylily and sure to be a conversation piece, Mighty Chestnut features abundant, large, 5 to 5.5-inch diameter trumpet-shaped, fragrant flowers with russet orange-red ruffled petals and a deep burgundy eye surrounding a glowing golden throat. Its longer-lasting open flowers are excellent for cutting and displaying in a vase for a full day. Able to thrive in harsh conditions such as polluted urban environments, poor and dry soils when established, blazing sun and heat, salty soil near roads, and even under and around black walnut trees, Mighty Chestnut is exceptionally easy to grow and maintain in USDA Zones 3a-9b, which is almost anywhere in America.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 24 to 30 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, Mighty Chestnut Daylily is ideal as an accent in smaller garden spaces or in groupings, stunning mass plantings, or as a border along paths and walkways in landscape borders. It is also lovely as an accent mixed with other sun-loving plants in combination container gardens. It is a fine addition to daylily gardens, perennial gardens, fragrance gardens, and orange-theme gardens.
