Description
Developed by the University of Georgia to be a perfect fit for smaller garden spaces, ‘Pink Pinnacle’ is a dwarf Chaste Tree that grows maybe a third the size of the species. Very well behaved, this cutie forms a rounded mound to about 6 feet tall and equally as wide with stems topped in abundant panicles of fragrant, nectar-rich, pink flowers in waves throughout the summer months. The hummingbirds, butterflies and bees will thank you for planting this one. Refined, sage-scented, gray-green leaves resemble Japanese maple leaves adding a delicate texture, pleasing color, and sensory appeal in the landscape. Its smaller stature is well suited for smaller garden spaces and pots, planters and other containers.
Note:Â The Pink Pinnacle Chaste Tree is cold hardy in USDA Zones 5a-9b. In USDA Zones 5 and 6Â young plants might die back to the ground during an unusually cold winter. If so, cut the plant back to the ground like you would a butterfly bush and it will quickly regrow to a a shrub 4 to 5 feet tall and wide.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to around 6 feet tall and equally as wide, the Pink Pinnacle Dwarf Chaste Tree is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings or as a hedge in sunny landscape borders. Also nice in large container gardens. Looks especially nice around garden ponds and other bodies of water and in rock gardens. A fine addition to pink theme gardens, pollinator gardens, bird gardens and butterfly gardens!
Suggested Spacing:Â 5 feet apart for solid hedge; 10 feet or more apart for space between plants
