White Perfume Princess Winter Daphne – 3 Gallon Pot

A triumph in Daphne breeding, ‘White Perfume Princess’ is a chance mutation of ‘Pink Perfume Princess. As with her sister, she is the earliest and longest flowering and least fussy of any Daphne, and unlike others, can even be grown in pots. She comes from a cross of Daphne bholua, a winter bloomer with sweet and intense baby powder fragrance, and Daphne odora, a late winter to spring bloomer with its incredible sweet and tropical fragrance. Her size and habit are most like Daphne odora, growing to around 3 feet tall and wide. From mid winter to mid or late spring, abundant clusters of highly fragrant pure white flowers stand out beautifully against the dense mound of elongated, pointed, dark green evergreen leaves. The flowers form not only at the branch tips but down along the stems as well, and they have the unmistakable heavenly Daphne fragrance with sweet citrus undertones. What’s more, White Perfume Princess will grow in almost any soil of average fertility that is well-drained, and sun or shade, though we suggest some filtered sun or shade during the midafternoon hours in hot climates of the South.
